- Hi, my name’s Marshall, I’m 43 going on 12 and consider myself a high-functioning nerd. This is me: I collect comics, toys and animation art, all sorts of stuff really. I have an incredibly patient wife who has allowed me to fill the largest room in our new house with my books, badges, burger toys and other things beginning with different letters. This may not surprise you, but also, I play a lot of videogames. Though I have friends, mostly I prefer one player adventures with Zelda, Mario or Ratchet in the title.
As far back as I can remember, I have been obsessed with movies. My favourite films include Star Wars, Double Indemnity, Jaws, King Kong (1933), The Maltese Falcon and RoboCop. My favourite directors are Billy Wilder, Alfred Hitchcock, John Carpenter and Woody Allen. TV also seriously floats my boat, and lately I’ve been watching a lot of Chuck, 24, True Blood and 30 Rock, though they’re just for starters. Clearly, I don’t get enough sleep, but don’t worry. I’m fine.
As a journalist, I’ve spent the past 20 years watching films and interviewing my heroes. I love that I love what I do. Back in ’96 I wrote a book that I remain proud of, Action! The Action Movie A-Z. Lately I’m excited about writing these blogs for Blockbuster, and welcome your comments and criticism.
If I have one regret in life, it’s that Wile E. Coyote never ate the Road Runner.
