We’re thrilled to announce that geek god Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios to develop a new live action series for US telly network ABC. Focusing on the top secret defence organisation run by Nick Fury, it’ll be titled S.H.I.E.L.D. and will most likely have close ties to all future movies in the Mighty Marvel Movieverse.
Following Whedon’s runaway success as writer and director of Avengers Assemble, which you’ll shortly be able to rent or buy from your good pals blockbuster.co.uk, the Buffy and Firefly creator will writer the pilot together with his brother Jed and Dollhouse scribe Maurissa Tancharoen. Though unconfirmed at this time, there’s a strong chance that Whedon will direct the pilot as well.
Besides his upcoming duties on S.H.I.E.L.D., Whedon will also be writing and directing Avengers Assemble 2, coming to a cinema near you in May, 2015. Keep an eye on this blog in the coming weeks for lots more juicy, Avengers-themed content.
