I have been in the camp of 'The Dark Knight was borderline brilliant but suffered somewhat from an almost unnecessary extra part of a movie tacked on the end' so this was definitely a concern for DKR. This made me a little nervous that it would become a rather ponderous (if technically brilliant) conclusion to the trilogy - espectially when compared to Avengers (of which I am definitely a fan).

Whilst it does indulge a bit in lengthy storytelling throughout the central act of the film (and could possibly have done with more Batman) it's still closer to the comic book vision than Nolan has previously managed - the technology strains credibility just a bit more and the hand of physics seems almost entirely absent in places - awesome if what you want is a proper DC Comic and not a more realistic Bond in a batsuit. This is that movie.

Worth seeing in IMAX - the sound and cinematography combine to make it feel like large portions of Gotham are falling on you in places. Definitely going to be part of my Blu-ray collection.
