Service Update – Introducing In-Store Exchange / Total Access

by bbmal on May 25, 2012

We are delighted to announce an exciting new upgrade for ALL of our Blockbuster By Post customers. As from today, ALL of our Blockbuster By Post subscribers can return any movie or game that they rent online to their local Blockbuster store, and exchange this for another movie from the store.

hoiwitworksThousands of movies are completely FREE when you exchange your disc in the store, while ALL other movies are half price. Not only that, but if you want to hold onto your rental and you don’t want to swap it in the store, you can still rent any movie in-store for half price.

There is no extra charge on your subscription for being able to swap in-store, your current rental plan remains unaffected. Our Blockbuster By Post plans start at £4.99 a month.

All we’re doing is giving our online subscribers total access to both our online and in-store product ranges and making more than half the stock in the store, FREE as a benefit of being a Blockbuster By Post customer.

Why is this good for our customers?

If you were to use this, in practice, it could mean that you could watch a movie that you rent from online on a Friday, return the disc to store to get another on a Saturday for FREE, and have another disc sent out to you when our warehouse receives the disc back as normal on Monday / Tuesday.

It’s the ultimate Blockbuster experience and should mean that you should never again be without something to watch.

Click & Collect

Click&Collect-Logo2We always try to go the extra mile for our customers at blockbuster.co.uk, in addition to introducing a new and swanky In-Store Movie Exchange logo, we have also upgraded the logged in experience for all of our Blockbuster By Post customers.

If you are a Blockbuster By Post customer then as long as you are logged in, Click & Collect buttons now reflect the pricing that you should expect to find in your local Blockbuster store. So a movie that would be 99p normally, will show as 49p to you… a new release movie that is £3.50 in-store is £1.75 to you, while a movie that is £2.00 in-store is £1.00 to you.

Anything that is priced at 99p or £1.50 in-store, or appearing as 49p or 75p to you when logged in at blockbuster.co.uk, is completely FREE when you exchange a disc in-store.

You don’t have to use Click & Collect to rent, however with Click & Collect, you can reserve in advance for FREE, what you’d like to rent in-store, which means that you can GUARANTEE that you get what you want at Blockbuster.

Early Access

movie-exchangesWe have also added a new section to our blockbuster.co.uk stores section to not only make it easier to find the movies that Blockbuster By Post customers can rent for FREE in-store, but also an Early Access section which features many of the movies that stores get ahead of ALL online rental subscription services.

You will be able to rent movies like ‘Amazing Spider-Man‘, ‘Prometheus‘ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ in your local Blockbuster store, up to 60 days ahead of being available on ANY subscription plan (either at Blockbuster or at our competitors). In fact, FOX Blu-ray is currently unavailable to rent online anywhere.

You can check out this new page and setup in-store exchange here >>

OnlineXtra

onlinextraslabwhIf you’re on an onlineXtra plan (which was closed to new customers in 2009), don’t worry – we will continue with onlineXtra until further notice. However, we do encourage you to check whether one of the current rental plans would be more cost effective. You would no longer be paying up front for your movie vouchers, you would get the same deal that everyone else gets, but at a lower monthly fee with no longer a need to print or show vouchers in the store.

More to come

topticketlogoWe’ve been innovators in online rental since it started back in 2002 (years before rival services existed), we’re the only company to bring you decent Blockbuster Exclusives, and the only company to bring you Top Ticket – where you can GUARANTEE what you get next.

We completely accept that in-store exchanges will not be useful for everyone, however with over 550 stores, open late 364 days a year – we know that MOST people are near a Blockbuster store… it’s cool. And it’s FREE. We have more cool features and new services that we will be adding to blockbuster.co.uk over the coming weeks and months.

Become a VIP

And don’t forget about our new VIP GAMER loyalty scheme that we launched at blockbuster.co.uk a couple of weeks ago as this will benefit most Blockbuster By Post customers as well as our loyal store and online customers who are not on a subscription. You get points for many of the things you do normally from adding to list to entering competitions. You can earn points and swap for things like extra Top Tickets, extra discs, trials, competitions etc.

You can find out more about VIP GAMER here >>

As always, please let us know what you think.

That’ll do pig, that’ll do.

Hi John,
Very sorry about this. The store is wrong. Our Operations team are following up.
We’ll be in touch and I apologise for the inconvenience.

Cheers,
Mal
